unit 6
Universal Loving kindness exercise was not too difficult for me. I have an open mind to everything, so I think that trait helps me with every exercise.
The greatest area that needs work is biological category. I was on a healthy diet and for financial reasons I seem to have slipped off of the shopping list. I have had to buy microwavable meals to save money and time. This upsets me because I was doing so well.
The assessment and exercise process was interesting due to it focusing on others. It left me with the thought that my problems are solvable. My area to focus will be my biological health. I need to get back on track with exercise and eating healthier.

Oh Billie, I am right there with you! I don't so much have the financial issue, but the time, and it's not even prep time to make healthy foods, it's shopping time. Well, and because everything else is so overwhelming right now I am having a hard time organizing meals. Finding that time to shop for healthy foods when my pantry/freezer is full of other options. The bad part for me, is that recently I have developed some food sensitivities and most of the things in my pantry, I can't eat. So I'll have chips & salsa, or a can of peas...or nothing, because it's easier.
ReplyDeleteI wish you the best of luck! It is definitely a fixable problem, just takes determination :-)
Hi Billie,
ReplyDeleteWouldn't it be great if fresh, healthy meals were just as easy as microwave meals? I swear I start my weeks with the best of intentions, but by the time I get to the grocery store I'm running to the frozen food aisle. I work with a girl who "has it all together." She comes into work and is highly organized. She has the most delicious looking salads for lunch with everything chopped just right and in matching tupperware; while I'm eating a package of almonds and a slice of apple pie that someone brought in a couple days before (with my hands because I have no utensils.) I asked her one day how she does it, and she shared her secret. Her husband makes her lunch every night before he goes to bed. So, I guess the real secret is ... minions. Until then, we will just have to make the healthiest choices we can with what is available. Hope you have a great week!

Eating healthy is such a struggle sometimes! No matter if it is because money, time or something else there always seems to be an issue with it. And it definitely becomes expensive quick. I'm trying to do better at work by not eating out as much (which I do for breakfast and lunch, its awful). I want to be able to bring food from home again to help me financially, then hopefully I can go back to eating healthy.
ReplyDeleteBillie,
ReplyDeleteI am having the same problems with recently having slipped from a healthier path to a less healthy one. Stress and money problems only add to the lack of physical health and wellness. It is hard to stay on a healthy diet when foods that are good for us, and those that are most nutritious are the most expensive. I think Sandra's coworker is on to something. Although she has an amazing husband to do the work for her, if we create healthy lunches before work that we can take with us, we will have an easier time eating healthy (as long as we can afford it!).

Billie,
ReplyDeleteI understand what it is like to fall off the path to eating healthy. In fact, I did not learn the importance and benefits of eating healthy until I was in my twenties. When I was younger, we ate what we could when we could, cheapest and easiest. It was just me and my mom and sometimes my sister, so she struggled financially. As I got older I learned the benefits and try to instill this knowledge on my children. Learning by example has proved to work best. I eat healthier by choice and feel better physically. It truly does make a difference. I have been slipping lately and know what it is like to eat what it convenient. Hang in there, once you get on track, it is all you will want to do.
